Beginning in the late 70's, both John Wintermute and Josiah (Joe) Wintermute were already working in the chemical industry.  Joe was employed by Royal Lubricants Company, an independent specialty lubricants manufacturer, working in the R & D and Q.C. laboratories.  At the same time John was employed by Chem-Service Labs., a small company specializing in synthesis of pharmaceuticals.

The brothers noticed the complementary knowledge and experience they had and decided they could build a company to provide a unique service to the lubricants industry.  The company began as Interstate Laboratory in 1979 with just a one-man operating plan.  During the first two years, the success of the fledgling company encouraged Joe and John to incorporate and reinvest heavily to expand services.  The company became Petro-Lubricant Testing Laboratories, Inc., in September of 1981.
 

A major step for the company occurred in 1995 when land  was purchased for the  construction of a dedicated facility  in Lafayette, New Jersey.

	Ground breaking took place in  the early fall of that year.
The foundation was poured and the frame work erected before the first snowfall.

The building is ready for the interior  finishing, the last phase of construction.

The laboratory now occupies a permanent base of operation specifically designed to improve and expand services.

With continued commitment to customer service and a growing staff of skilled professionals, Petro-Lube Test Labs is now recognized among the leaders in the lubricant industry for quality independent testing of a wide variety of petroleum products.
 

The expansion of the Lafayette facilities was completed at the end of 2007.  We will be able to proved a clients with and a wider range of physical, chemical, and analytical testing capabilities.
